District Director of Student Support Services
Tami Pallingston
Originally from Morristown, New Jersey, Tami Pallingston received her Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University. After traveling across the United States on her bicycle, Tami settled in California and began her postgraduate studies, receiving her teaching credentials from Humboldt State and Sonoma State, and her Masters in Education Administration from San Francisco State University.
Tami brings a diverse breadth of knowledge and experience to Piner Olivet including work in Food Science, Air Quality Management and music performance and instruction. Tami has over 10 years of experience as a special education teacher and music director.
As a professional jazz musician, playing upright and electric bass with a variety of local performance ensembles and through music instruction, Tami witnessed the power of music to move people. From there, it was a short leap to realizing her passion of working with students with special needs through music.
Having worked for Santa Rosa City Schools, North Coast School of Education, and Shoreline Unified School District, Tami understands the challenges facing large and small districts. She is looking forward to working with the students and families of Piner Olivet as the Director of Student Support Services to add value to the school district.
As a hiker and backpacker Tami understands the value of teamwork, the need to plan and prepare for the journey ahead, and the need to be flexible when things do not go as planned. She is excited to bring her backpacking spirit to the POUSD team.
