Measure L Citizens' Oversight Committee

In November 2010, the Piner-Olivet Union School District passed the Measure “L” bond measure.  Bond measures require an independent oversight committee and annual audits to ensure money is used only for voter approved school improvements and repairs and not used for salaries, administration, and overhead.   As part of the proposed bond program, the Governing Board established an independent citizens’ oversight committee.  The purpose of the Measure “L” Oversight Committee is to:
  • Actively review and report on the expenditure of voter-approved bonds
  • Receive and review copies of annual performance and financial audits
  • Present an annual written report to the Governing Board
Education Code Section 15278 requires that the Measure “L” Citizens’ Oversight Committee inform the public concerning the expenditure of revenues received from bond sales pursuant to Measure “L”. The 7-member Oversight Committee is comprised of individuals from local businesses, senior citizen organizations, organizations involved with schools, a bona fide tax payers’ organization, as well as involved parents of children residing in the Piner-Olivet Union School District.  The Committee may not include any employee, vendor, contractor, or consultant of the school district.
