Parent Resources

Piner-Olivet Union School District works with parents to ensure the highest level of success for their children. Parents play a critical role helping their students succeed—your support is the most important factor in your child’s ability to grow and learn. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or if you would like to discuss how we can work together to best help your child.

We have included useful links here for you to access online learning tools, food service information, and access to web-based platforms for meal service and processing a variety of forms.

Understanding the New California Assessments

Shortly before school ended for the year, students took part in the 2015 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), the new computer-based tests for English language arts/literacy and mathematics that replaced the former paper-based tests for these subjects. To find information to understand these new assessments:

Toolbox Project

Picture
We are implementing the Toolbox Project, "a K-6 curriculum that supports children in understanding and managing their own emotional, social and academic success."

Through the curriculum, "children learn 12 simple yet powerful Tools. With practice these tools become valuable personal skills:  self-awareness, self-management and relationship skills; these in turn foster responsible decision-making.  Because the techniques are simple and the language is shared, children adopt the tools and master them quickly."

Toolbox if focuses on helping each child build "self-knowledge and self-mastery; it soon improves empathy and communication and helps resolve conflicts in the classroom, playground and whole school community.  Children experience their own power and naturally take more responsibility for managing themselves and solving problems." -- from Dovetail Learning.
